The research deals with the concept of the term metonymy for Shihab al-Din al-Halabi, starting from a historical and descriptive study of the term, taking into account the stages of the development of this concept and its transmission, eventually reaching two concepts that came as a result of this development, which stem from the term general metonymy and then goes to the axis of metonymy between truth and metaphor.
