Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial activity Evaluation of Some Complexes Derived From N-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) methylidene amino]benzamide

In this research, a new ligand derived from the reaction of methyl benzoate with aqueous hydrazine was prepared. The hydrazone ligand (N-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methylidene)aminobenzamide] was prepared and then reacted with a number of metallic elements Mn (II) , Cu(II), Ni(II), Co (II) and Zn(II). The ligand behaved as a diastereomer, where the coordination between the central ion and the ligand occurred through the nitrogen atom of the azomethine group and the oxygen atom of the (OH) group of the aromatic ring. The proposed structures were deduced, yielding octahedral complexes. The ligand and its complexes were characterized, and several measurements were performed , such as spectroscopy FT-IR , nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy proton 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy, as well as magnetic measurements. In addition, Computational study of stability. Electronic spectra and Micro elemental analysis, as well as the molecular docking study of the prepared ligand and the molar electrical conductivity. The biological activity of the ligand and its complexes on two types of Gram-negative bacteria (E.coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (S.aureus) was also studied, as some complexes showed higher antibacterial activity than the free ligand.
